Deborah Shore, chair of the National Network for Youth and Executive Director of Sasha Bruce Youthwork is part of a group of 13 people being honored as “Champions of Change” for their work in helping communities combat homelessness.
Shore has been working in the field of youth homelessness since the 1970s.
“To respond to youth homelessness, we need to do things that are age appropriate and service-enriched,” she said.
Shore said the issue with youth homelessness is actually on a larger scale than initially thought, because most homeless youth do not consider themselves as such. But, she said, that if you are able to address the larger issues, then success can be achieved.
