Statement From National Network for Youth Regarding Virgin Mobile's strip2clothe Campaign

National Network for Youth (NN4Y) has been working to raise awareness of youth homelessness for more than 30 years. When Virgin Mobile informed us of their plans to launch the Strip2Clothe campaign, we knew it would get attention-- and the issue of youth homelessness needs more attention. Our first steps were to assess feedback and try to find a comfortable place where both our members and Virgin Mobile could reach their goals.

Statement From National Network for Youth Regarding Virgin Mobile's STRIP2Clothe Campaign

As most of you know by now, STRIP2Clothe is a national campaign created by Virgin Mobile USA to raise awareness and resources for homeless and street involved youth. STRIP2Clothe features a website where volunteers can send their own videos in which the subject is involved in taking off any item of clothing—thus the title STRIP2Cltohe. For each video received, an article of new clothing is added to the inventory of free clothing made available for distribution. For every five views a video receives, another item of clothing is donated.

ABA Meeting

NN4Y is proud to announce its first ever cooperative meeting with the American Bar Association. The ABA meeting in Seattle is being generously supported by Casey Family Programs and we have local law firm support, along with nearly 200 attendees committed.

We hope to learn from each other on issues surrounding youth homelessness and aging out, as well as how to work within the legal system to make a real impact for the youth we serve. All of these people are on board to help and we believe good things will come of this partnership for youth across the country.

Reconnecting Runaway and Homeless Youth Act Passes House!

On June 9, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 5524, the Reconnecting Homeless Youth Act, introduced by Congressman John Yarmuth (KY) this past March. The major five-year reauthorization bill will strengthen the main source of federal funding for disconnected youth outside of the foster care and juvenile justice system. It will also create a nation-wide network to prevent youth from falling through cracks in the system.
