NN4Y Marches from the White House to Capitol Hill with Zach Bonner and Little Red Wagon Foundation

On Thursday, July 9th staff from NN4Y’s DC office marched alongside 11 year old Zach Bonner from the White House to Capitol Hill to raise awareness of youth homelessness in America.  Since May 11th, Zach and his mom have walked from Atlanta, GA to Washington, DC – over 600 miles!

Tara James, Project Director for the National Network for Youth, has been chosen to attend 80 Million Strong for Young American Jobs’ Summit in Washington, DC on July 14 and 15, 2009.  Selected from hundreds of applicants, Tara will join 150 fellow representatives of the Millennial generation to discuss the incredible challenges facing youth seeking employment today.  Speakers at the Summit will include former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle, former Congressman Lee Hamilton, and Judy Woodruff of the Newshour.

NN4Y Presentation at CDC National Conference

Kayla Jackson, NN4Y’s Vice President of Programs, presented a workshop entitled “Tips and Tools for Reaching the Hardest to Reach: How NGOs and Others Support Schools in Reaching Out-of-School Youth” as part of the Division of Adolescent and School Health’s (DASH) 2009 Adolescent and School Health Partners Meeting.

National Network for Youth Honored by Inaugural Youth Ball

Hope BallNational Network for Youth was honored to be chosen as the sole beneficiary of the first ever H.O.P.E. Inaugural Youth Ball. This event gave youth the opportunity to share in the inaugural festivities surrounding the swearing in of President-elect Barack Obama. This family-friendly evening of elegance and entertainment was held on Saturday, January 17, 2009 and was a great success.
