Where Your Money Goes
Through your donation to National Network for Youth, the Network is able to carry on important work on behalf of runaway and homeless youth, including:
- Strong advocacy with federal and state policy-makers to promote social solutions to meet the needs of unaccompanied and disconnected youth.
- Legislation advocating for our members to better serve the needs of their recipients as well as promoting healthy development of youth and families.
- Education and guidance of members of Congress, their staff and administration officials
- Protection of key legislation and spending affecting youth.
National Network for Youth is also able to launch exciting projects such as:
- Txt2Clothe - Through a partnership with Virgin Mobile that includes clothing manufacturers such as American Eagle and Levi Strauss, member organizations can get FREE new clothing for the homeless youth in their programs, shipped directly to their organization through the Txt2Clothe campaign.
- A Place to Call Home - The National Network for Youth has advanced its comprehensive public policy agenda through the introduction of the Place to Call Home Act (H.R. 3409). Subsequently, several spin off bills have now also been introduced, including H.R. 5524, Reconnecting Homeless Youth Act, H.R. 4208, Reconnecting Youth to Prevent Homelessness Act, and S. 2451, First Step Forward Act.
- State Level Advocacy - The National Network for Youth is working to bring together stake holders in individual states to identify the needs and advocate for policy change. One of our current projects in support of state level advocacy involves bringing a leader from a community-based organization, a lawyer, and a judge from each state to participate in an event co-sponsored by the American Bar Association.
- Symposium - National Network's yearly conference brings together the community of youth serving agencies and people in Washington, D.C.
