Mike Rieder has been the Executive Director of Haven House Services since 1977. The goal of Haven House is in improving the quality of life for young people via many avenues. Since 1981, this agency has operated a basic center program and a transitional living program. In 1983, Haven House Services began its family preservation program. The agency also provides residential treatment, mentoring and restitution programs. Mike has been on the Board of Directors of the Southeastern Network for Youth, currently serves on the boards of two statewide advocacy organizations and has been active in many local organizations and initiatives. In 2003, Mike joined the Board of Directors of the National Network for Youth. Mr. Rieder has also been past chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Southeastern Network of Youth and Family Services. He has worked with and chaired the North Carolina Community Alternatives for Youth, as well as being a strong supporter of the North Carolina Juvenile Justice Commission. He has been involved with the Governor's Summit for Volunteerism, Substance Abuse Advisory Commission, the Board of Directors of Nazareth House, Phoenix Organization and the Wake County Youth Advocacy Council. Mike is the 2003 recipient of the National Network's Lifetime Achievement award. Mike and his wife, Kathleen, have been married for 33 years. Kathleen is an artist and teaches at North Carolina State University, they have three children. Their oldest son is a schoolteacher, their second son works in construction, and their daughter is a freshman in college.
