I am employed by CH2M HILL, a worldwide engineering and construction firm based in Denver, CO, and am the Global Sales Director for Environmental Services. My responsibilities include growing our environmental business, enhancing our market image, and coordinating with small businesses. I have worked at the firm for nine years, and in the environmental/engineering business for 25 years. I am married with two daughters and a son-in-law, all of whom are officers in the military. I have hands-on experience in the youth services, including participating in the 2-year study of youth services throughout the county of Dallas, TX. The study assessed youth services gaps, overlaps, and duplication. As a result, we determined a gap in services to runaway youth. I subsequently wrote a proposal to establish and receive funding for the first runaway youth shelter in Dallas -- Casa de los Amigos. Sponsored by the YMCA, the grant application resulted in Federal funds of $100,000 for program start up. As the program's first Director, I created strong linkages with the Texas Youth Commission, the Dallas Police Department, and several volunteer organizations, including VISTA, to secure sufficient staff resources, supplies and equipment. I also was active in the Runaway Youth Network as part of my responsibilities for growing the program. After moving to Seattle, I became involved in YouthCare, one of the premier youth services providers in Seattle. I was an active board member for several years, then chairperson, including the period during which we changed the image of the organization, and expanded our services and staff. With the serious illness of my youngest daughter in 1992, I spent much of my time supporting her needs. Since then my focus has been on family and career – however, now I am excited about re-engaging with volunteer work, and especially interested in re-engaging in the youth services arena.
