Deborah Shore is the Executive Director and founder of Sasha Bruce Youthwork (SBY), which began in Washington, DC in 1974. She has been a leader in developing appropriate government and CBO initiatives to empower disenfranchised youth and families and she played a key role in the legislation creating the federal Runaway and Homeless Youth Act. She has served on many boards and committees including, DC Task Force on Runaway and Homeless Youth, Child Advocacy Center and the Mid-Atlantic Network for Family and Youth Services (MANY). She has conducted groundbreaking work in youth and family services in the District of Columbia and over more than two decades, she and SBY have developed a deep understanding of the needs of troubled children, youth and families and the expertise to meet their needs. She has built an exceptional staff and strong management systems to ensure that SBY's work meets the highest standards of quality and cost-effectiveness. To facilitate this work, she has developed numerous collaborative and working relationships with other agencies and resources that enable SBY to address fully the needs of the young people and families they serve.
